In Sous Vide Made Simple, she and her team take a different approach, offering a book full of simple, delicious ways to feed your family while shortening your time in the kitchen and getting creative every day of the week.”— PREETI MISTRY, author of The Juhu Beach Club Cookbook: Indian Spice, Oakland Soul Lisa Q. Fetterman is the founder and CEO of Nomiku, makers of the first home immersion circulator and the author of the critically acclaimed cookbook Sous Vide At Home. She has been featured in Wired, MAKE, and Forbes, and was named on both Forbes’ and Zagat Survey’s 30 Under 30 lists for her pioneering work in the food space. Lisa earned a BA in Journalism from NYU and honed her culinary sensibilities working at some of the top restaurants in the country, including Babbo, Jean-Georges, and Saison.    Scott Peabody is a professional chef with more than a decade and a half of experience. He attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park before cutting his teeth in New York City, toiling in the kitchens of renowned chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Thomas Keller, where he was initiated into the mysteries of sous vide cooking. Her writing and videos have appeared on The Food Network, Tasting Table, Zagat, Michelin, Bravo, and Tastemade.

A follow-up to the successful Sous Vide at Home, with 65 recipes for easy weeknight meals using this popular cooking technique to greatest effect.

Sous Vide Made Simple couples the home sous vide machine with a do-ahead approach to help you streamline your cooking. The book centers around foolproof master recipes for flawless meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables that can be made quickly and easily (and in advance!) with your home immersion circulator, and then 50 spin-off recipes for turning these into crowd-pleasing full meals. Nearly all of the recipes can be prepped in advance, and then finished using a conventional cooking method, and on the table in under an hour.

Unlike other sous vide cookbooks, Sous Vide Made Simple isn't just meat and potatoes, instead, it's packed with vegetables, lighter fare, and globally inspired food, like Grilled Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa, Cauliflower Steaks with Almonds and Kalamata Yogurt Sauce, Carnitas Tacos with Salsa Verde, and Eggplant Shakshuka—as well as improved classics like Beef Bourguignon Pot Roast and Grilled Pork Chops with Apple Chutney—and every recipe is accompanied by a beautiful photograph.

Partly a how-to manual and partly a cookbook, Sous Video Made Simple gives the home cook, sous vide novice and old pro alike, all the information and encouragement to incorporate sous vide technology into a delicious everyday cooking repertoire.

Sensational Spin-offs of Sous Vide Master Recipes Sous vide makes it possible for us to cook like pros at home. But it can be a little bit of a production and takes an investment of time upfront (virtually all passive time, but time nonetheless). What I love about this cookbook, is that it lays out very simply how to prepare a master recipe (for us, typically, chicken, pork or fish) to start, then make interesting spinoff meals with entirely new flavor profiles easily and quickly. Each recipe offers interesting context, clear instructions, compelling photography and handy tips and shortcuts. The cookbook is sprinkled with some fun, one-off bonus recipes, too. It has quickly become a go-to cookbook for us, and has taken over the cookbook stand on our kitchen island. My husband is a big fan of the Drunken Noodles made from the master recipe for Quick-Cooked Pork.My new favourite cookbook I have quite a few sous vide cookbooks, and in the course of a few days this has become my favourite one.For me, the overall structure of the book makes it more useful than other books. It gives you a "master recipe", instructions on how to sous vide the meat, and then follows it with multiple recipes using the master recipe. This is great for people who want to sous vide enough for a week, refrigerate, and then use it in 5 different recipes over the next few days. The variety of recipes using a single master recipe also gives you a really good sense of how versatile sous vide meat can beMost importantly, the recipes seem really good. The book is fairly new so I have only had time to try three so far, but what I did make came out wonderfully. All the recipes look amazing and I have resolved to try them all, but its a real struggle to not remake those apple chutney pork chops I made last night again for dinner tonight. The other thing I like about the book is that it gives you ideas to that you may not have thought of before, and encourages you to experiment. In fact, right now I am thinking of experimenting with turning the pork master recipe into that "raw" pork tonkatsu I used to love back in Japan.TL;DR: great book for experts and beginners alike, recipes are simple with really good flavours, and I actually learned quite alot despite having done sous vide for yearsDelicious and approachable recipes made simple, sous vide style I've had a sous vide cooker for a few years, and I'm always at a loss for what to do with it. I have a few dishes I think it handles perfectly (flank steak, chocolate pots de creme), but aside from those, I usually feel like I don't know what I'm doing. Lately, I've been ordering Nomiku meals, and that's super helpful and convenient, but sometimes I still want something I've cooked for myself. Enter "Sous Vide Made Simple.""Sous Vide Made Simple" is a cookbook dedicated to helping make sous vide cooking, well, simple. It is arranged by protein and contains a handful of master recipes, those recipes you want in your back pocket so you can customize them. These are things like eggs, chicken thighs, steak, and slow-cooked pork, among others, all made with neutral seasoning and cooked to perfection. There are then a few suggestions to spice up the already-cooked staples.I personally love this layout and find it so handy. It means you can cook a ton of a protein in one go, and freeze it for later. Frozen vacuum-packed items reheat perfectly sous vide without losing any quality. Then you can just use those staples to throw together a quicker version of a classic meal. I tried Boeuf Bourguignon Pot Roast (with a few minor modifications) and I was surprised and impressed at the depth of flavor I got in only a half hour of cooking the sauce. I used short ribs au jus I ordered from Nomiku and cut them up to make smaller pieces, then added them into the flavorful sauce. It was a huge hit in our house.Another item I would never have thought to cook sous vide, mushrooms, also turned out remarkably well. Mushrooms are one of the master recipes and as a mushroom lover, I knew I had to try them. In fifteen minutes, I had perfectly cooked mushrooms that then browned perfectly in a pan of butter. It saved a lot of active cooking time, which I always appreciate. The design of the book is extremely user-friendly and is very readable. The recipes are all family-friendly and easy, primarily using ingredients I tend to have in my pantry. Because the main components can easily be made in advance, this is a great cookbook to have in your arsenal if you're on the go frequently. With recipes packed full of flavor and a great layout, this is a cookbook I'll be going back to for convenient and delicious recipes to cook for my family. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Does NOT have a recipe with honey for infants I know someone mentioned it's dangerous and that they can't trust this book due to a recipe with honey. Well there is a page with items not to be used before the age of 1 and honey is one of them and the recipe is in a chapter for toddlers. There is absolutely nothing with honey for babies before the age of 1. This is really a wonderful book that is everything you need to know about making baby food. Some nice ideas, but also dangerous mistakes There are some nice ideas in here for combinations of common baby foods and spices. And I like the book's modular approach towards preparing and combining single-ingredient purees to create new tastes. HOWEVER, the book makes some serious, potentially life-threatening mistakes: it includes raw honey for recipes for infants under a year, which the American Academy of Pediatrics (and basically everyone else) warns against, due to potential botulism; and it also says that nut milks are a fine substitute for breastmilk or formula for this age group, which is not true as any pediatrician will tell you. When a book on baby food to make such serious, basic mistakes, I can't trust its advice. Also, a large chunk of the book is "recipes" for individual-food purees, each of which is identical (steam, puree, freeze).I definitely loved this book I definitely loved this book. I thought it was going to be a book with some receipts and menu for baby and parents but it’s not. They really explain everything about what you children should been eating in each stage and why. This is a huge book. I really recommend that.

Waste of time and money, even for Potter fans This is a 5 hour ad for the movie.Should have been free and released well before the film This was clearly originally designed as marketing to be listen to BEFORE the movie came out. They don't talk about any of the twists or plot turns and say you will have to watch the film to find out what actually happens (even for something as trivial as why Dumbledore casts a fog spell in London, which is just to hide his meeting with Newt, which is already in the trailers!). It is an extended ad that should have been a series of free featurettes to get hyped about the film. $30 is insane and they should be ashamed.

—Lazav, House Dimir Guildmaster

An eternity of winding streets, dark alleys, towering structures, and rubble-strewn ruins make up the world of Ravnica. In this sprawling city, ten guilds are locked in a perpetual struggle for influence and dominance, each one seeking to advance its own agenda and philosophy—and now it’s time to choose your place in this conflict. In these pages, lavishly illustrated with the award-winning art of Magic: The Gathering®, you’ll learn the deepest secrets of the guilds and the plots unfolding in their ranks.

Choose your guild and take your place in Ravnica, the greatest city in the Multiverse!

Not sure why the rest of the reviews are on about the wrong book but.... How about we talk about the currently latest in the The Art of Magic: The Gathering.. RavnicaAs with all the other's in this series of looks into the multiverse of M:TG, Ravinca is an excellent book of art put together from across the main two sets of the current story arc in the card game. As with the rest of the books the artwork is the best feature as well as the accompanying world building lore that you get only the briefest scraps of in the cards themselves. The most of the chapters focus on each of the ten Guilds of the Cityscape plane of Ravinica. After the usual M:TG explanations of the colors of Magic, Planeswalkers etc come the brief overview chapter of the world of Ravnica at large. The the meat of the book begins with each of the Guild focused chapters. The Azorius Senate. the Blue/White Lawmakers of the Plane. The Orzhov Syndicate, a White/Black "church" front led by the greedy spirits of the long dead preying on the living followersHouse Dmir, The Black/Blue spymasters guild. spies, informants, assassins and others that the other guilds hire to get the dirt on each other, all the while keeping enough for themselves to make their own power plays. The Izzet League, a group of Blue/Red research magicians and artificers making what they can because "FOR SCIENCE!" led by an ancient dragon. The Cult of Rakdos, Black/Red demon worshiping sadists who praise their master by offering up the most entertaining show they can.The Golgari Swarm, Black/Green denizens of the deep city, sewers, and decayed areas. Life and Death are the cycle they believe in.The Gruul Clans, Wild groups of Green/Red savage tribes who detest the city and destroy all vestments of civilization they come across. The Boros Legion, White/Red Army and righteous law enforcement of the Plane. Led by Angels into glorius battle against the forces that would threaten the peace of the plane. The Selesnya Conclave, Green/White the ones at peace with Nature who wish to return the city to a more beautiful natural state led by a trio of dryads who interpret the voice of the World Tree. And then the Simic Combine the Green/Blue biomancer opposites of the Izzet league. Willing to experiment on themselves with combining each other with other lifeforms to improve themselves. The next chapter then go into some of the backstory of the underlying plot the game at large has told with the chapter "Claws of the Mastermind". Diving into the plot and machinations of Nicol Bolas as they come together on Ravnica leading into the next "War of the Sparks" set.Lastly we end at a short look at how each of the Guilds have changed over the last 14 years in the three major visits to Ravnica we have seen. And that's kind of the issue I have with the Artbooks on returning worlds. It makes sense for the books to primarily focus on the newer sets to promote them, but for worlds like Dominaria and Ravnica with so much previous to draw from it would be great alone to draw more from the older sets as well to see how much things have changed. But overall the book is another great look at the art and lore of the current world the game is set in now.I pre-ordered this book and was not disappointed. If you are into the art and lore ... I pre-ordered this book and was not disappointed. If you are into the art and lore of Magic: The Gathering this is a must have. The book has weight with solid binding and when gently opened there was no cracking sounds like a cheap coffee table book. This is a high-quality production book. If you are like me and had to strain your eyes to appreciate the artwork, this book is a godsend as many of the illustrations are enlarged to fully appreciate the details by your favorite artists. For those who have been following the lore of Innistrad, this book further adds details you won't get from Wizards site thanks to James Wyatt's contribution to the details (for example:"Nahiri has played on their discontent and given them new masters to serve."). I really think Wyatt's deep background from the early days of D&D was invaluable for the book. In fact, the book reads like a classic D&D Dragon Magazine article which further expounds on the general lore.Back to the artwork, there are many two-page spreads of cards from SOI and even Eldritch Moon! Perhaps they timed the release intentionally! I read some reviews that the previous artbook for BFZ block had low resolution but that's nonsense after seeing the prints in this book. The details are amazing. The appendix is really fantastic as it delves into how and why Innistrad mechanics are so special. Unfortunately, upon initial look, it doesn't include Eldirtch Moon's mechanics like Meld but it's still a fascinating look into how Wizards R&D operates. All in all, this is one of my favorite M:TG item of all time aside from the cards themselves. There is so much flavor and information about the Innistrad plane. I hope Wizards will continue this tradition with Kaledesh and beyond to satisfy the hard-core lore lovers like myself!Plus: I love the fresh smell of the book, it has a very much a "new car" smell.
